Scout Dike Reservoir, the home of Barnsley Trout Club for over 43 years, is off the A629 Huddersfield Road, just north of the pennine market town of Penistone. Look for the Barnsley Trout Club signs as you approach the Reservoir on the A629.
The reservoir is approximately 6 miles from the centre of Barnsley, 10 miles from the centres of Huddersfield and Sheffield and just three miles from the Peak District National Park.
Fishery Car Park
We have an excellent, tarmac, off road car park with dedicated disabled spaces. Visitors are reminded to park sensibly as spaces can be at a premium during during busy periods. Our car park operates a one way system with a dedicated entrance & exit so please take care.
Fishery And Bankside Access
From the car park, use either the right hand steps or the gently sloping tarmac walkway to access the fishery office which is located on the near bankside. Well maintained level footpaths follow the bankside all the way around the reservoir. Alternately, after a fishing ticket has been purchased, the set of steps located in the left hand corner of the car park leads directly across the dam wall to the far bank.
